Does Dr. Regan accept insurance?

Dr. Regan accepts patients as members no matter what insurance they have or do not have. The monthly membership fee includes any services rendered within the four walls of the office. Because Dr. Regan does not bill insurance, this practice will be considered “out of network.” Dr. Regan will however help you use your insurance plan for any labs not performed in the office, imaging orders such as MRI’s and prior authorizations for medications.

What happens if I have an HMO?

Most HMO’s require an “in network physician” to order advanced imaging such as MRI’s and CT scans, referrals to specialists such as orthopedics or cardiology and to order certain medications that require a prior authorization. Many DPC members with HMO’s will see an “in network” physician once a year for a physical which is no cost to the patient and an arrangement is made with the “in network” office to facilitate referrals, imaging orders and prior authorizations that may be needed throughout the year. Dr. Regan is happy to discuss this with you in more detail.

What health insurance plan should I choose?

The short answer is to use whatever insurance plan you are comfortable with. Many DPC members will switch to a high deductible plan which can offset premium fees yet still provide coverage for the unforeseen medical issues that arise. Also many patients will switch to a non HMO plan at open enrollment to eliminate the need for an “in network” physician to help facilitate referrals and prior authorizations for medications and imaging.
