At Harbour Direct Primary Care, we offer multiple options for treatment to correct scars and other skin texture issues, but how do you choose the best one for your scars?
Our team members can help you choose the best solution for your goals, and here are some factors we take into account.
1) Type of Scar
We start your consultation by considering the type of scar you have. We offer acne, surgical, and burn scar treatment in Jamestown, RI. And while all our treatments can help with all types of scars, certain treatments work better than others for specific concerns. For example, surgical scars are very precise and localized, so we may consider using Botox to relax the area and reduce the appearance.
On the other hand, we tend to use RF microneedling or Clear RF for more scattered or varied scarring, like burn scars or acne scars.
2) Scar Size
The size of the scar also determines which treatment we use. For larger scars, we tend to use RF microneedling or Clear RF, since they both can deliver effective treatment over a larger surface area. However, we may choose Botox to treat smaller and more precise scars.
3) Other Scar Treatments
Whether or not you use other treatments to smooth your scars helps us determine the right solution for you. Even some at-home skin care can help reduce the appearance of scars, so we can tailor your treatment to complement your current routine. You can tell your physician about anything you do right now to improve your scars, and you can ask for recommendations if you need them.
4) Medications
Certain medications can limit your treatment options, as they may cause interactions within your skin or affect how your skin heals. We ask you during your consultation about your medical history, including what medications you take, and help you create a care plan based on your history.
